League-wide action matchday for social unity

TOGETHER! against hate

Around the Matchday 27 of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, German professional football is joining forces to promote social cohesion. Under the motto „TOGETHER! Stop Hate. Be a Team.“, the DFL, the DFL Foundation and the 36 professional clubs are once again campaigning for respect, fair play and solidarity with a league-wide match day and other diverse measures. The campaign period runs parallel to the International Weeks against Racism (16–29 March 2026) and reinforces the year-round commitment of German professional football.

The Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 stand for diversity: players from 64 nations are currently active in the two leagues. Week after week, they demonstrate on and off the pitch how cohesion, respect and team spirit work, regardless of origin, religion or identity. The clubs and their fans, like the DFL, are also committed to combating discrimination in many ways throughout the year.

Voices from the #TEAM

We asked current and former Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 players what experiences they have had with hate in everyday life and how they deal with it.

„You definitely experience it. After the game, during substitutions or when you get messages online, although I like to avoid reading through them.“

Philip Tietz, 1. FSV Mainz 05

„That’s not acceptable and there should be no room for it.“

Nathaniel Brown, Eintracht Frankfurt

„It’s not nice to watch and it doesn’t belong in football or in this world in general.“

Jeff Chabot, VfB Stuttgart

„Discrimination has no place there. Not just in sport, but in our society in general and I’m always in favour of working together and that’s what I learned as a footballer: solving problems together, not making problems against each other.“

Lothar Matthäus, Bundesliga Legende

To the campaign weeks of previous years (pages in German):

Zwei Fußballmannschaften stehen auf dem Rasen eines Stadions und halten gemeinsam ein pinkes Banner mit der Aufschrift 'TOGETHER! STOP HATE. BE A TEAM.'

The action matchday complements the continuous and diverse commitment of German professional football, which regularly uses its reach in favour of social issues. Since 2012, corresponding matchday campaigns have been organised during the International Weeks against Racism.
